Carramar was established in 1984 by members of the community who saw a need for local aged care facilities with a focus on care and support systems, whilst providing for residents who wished to maintain their Sunny Coast lifestyle.
Delivering high-quality, tailored services in a caring environment without the backing of a large organisation was never going to be easy. After ten years of fund-raising from our dedicated community members, Carramar was finally opened on land that was donated to us.
In 2006 Kabara amalgamated with Carramar to create the NoosaCare banner. Thirty years later these two facilities still provide the highest level of care whilst staying true to our core values, putting residents and their family at the forefront of all we do.
We do things differently at NoosaCare. It’s not simply about providing exceptional services to our residents, it’s also going above and beyond to make NoosaCare special and enjoyable for all our residents, their families, our dedicated staff and volunteer members and the community as a whole.
NoosaCare leads the way with exceptional care for residents in High and Low Residential Care, Respite, and our internationally researched Dementia Care Unit. Our award-winning Dementia village is founded on three pillars – Environment, Engagement and Food.
We manage our resident’s health and well-being with visiting doctors, physios, and other allied health professionals. Our facilities have a registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day 7 days a week with extra support from clinical staff. This allows more personalised care through a higher staff to resident ratio.
Our accommodation and facilities are state-of-the-art and the location couldn’t be more amazing. Situated in the beautiful Noosa Hinterland and close to Noosa’s famous beaches and Hastings Street we have access to trains and local buses right on our doorstep.
We take extra care to make our residents stay with us as enjoyable as possible, with an onsite hair salon, beauty therapies and other pamper programs. Our on-site chefs create fresh and nourishing meals sourced from local suppliers wherever possible, and family members are always encouraged to enjoy a meal with our residents.
We wouldn’t be here without the community that created us. Keeping the community feel is essential to daily life at both our facilities. We believe that dogs are also part of that community and we love when our staff, volunteers and residents’ families bring in their fur babies too!
We understand that people have different interests, and provide more than just the standard art and creative classes or coffee catch-ups. Residents can enjoy on-site concerts and dances, beer and wine tasting, men’s and ladies clubs as well as twice a day bus trips for adventures around the Sunshine Coast.
NoosaCare works with many local businesses to educate the community regarding Dementia and Aged Care issues. The not-for-profit side our business means that funds raised go directly back into NoosaCare through care requirements, staffing, refurbishments and more, to continually improve services and facilities.
